RE: Holiday Rambler Endeavor - Any Probs?

I have a 2000 Holiday Rambler Endeavor.
I have had virtually no problems beyond routine maintenance.
Last year my shower skylight cracked in a hail storm. I called Monaco with my VIN number and credit card number. They shipped the parts required to make the repair the same day. I have been very pleased with the service I have gotten from Monaco.
Mine has the CAT 3126 engine with the 6 speed Allison. Both have been flawless.
Good Luck

RE: Billings to MSP via I-94

I last made that trip in Feb, but most of it is in good to very good condition. There are a some sections where the left lane is smoother than the right. There are areas of construction, but nothing serious.

RE: Kalispell MT to West Yellowstone WY

I have made that trip several times. There are a number of Forest Service campgrounds in the Seeley Lake area. I ususally go East at the junction of 83 and 200. There are a couple more campgrounds before you get to Helena. Many of these campgrounds are off the highway on gravel roads and I don't think any of them are very large.
The last time we made that trip we stopped at the Holter Lake Recreation Area. It was nice and fairly new. Most of the trees are fairly small, so don't expect to be in the shade all day long.

RE: Getting a shed for the rig!!!

Congrats.
My brother and I built a "Toy Shed" a couple of years ago to store 2 MH's, boats and shop space. Ours was just over 5,000 sq ft and now we are looking at building another. Seems you can never have enough shop space.
One bit of advice would be to make you overhead door just a bit taller. 12 ft is enough for most Class C's, but my MH is just over 12' high.
Good luck.

RE: MN. rte. 34 to rte. 200 to rte. 2 to Duluth

I made that trip 3 weeks ago. As I remember highway 34 East of DL has some rough expansion joints for a few miles. The road is generally in very good condition.
For the return trip we took MN 210 to US 10. It is in similar condition with the roughest section (expansion joints) near Aitkin.
I prefer the "Northern" route because I like going thru Walker, MN, but the "Southern" route is a little shorter.

My son and his buddies went snowmobiling at Cooke City, MT on the NE entrance the first week in June. I know a couple of guy heading to the Big Horns west of Sheridan, WY tomorrow. There was lots of snow in the mountains this winter and more has been falling in JUNE.
This is a picture taken today in Cooke City, MT PIC
Beartooth pass closed 6-3-08 and remains closed today 6-12-08.

RE: CG near Mayo Clinic, MN??

Autumn Woods RV Park
We have stayed at the Autumn Woods RV Park. It was a very nice setting just a few miles south of Rochester. They have a free shuttle to the clinic.

RE: Lake McDonald (Glacier N.P.) and/or Flathead Lake

I have stayed at Apgar many times. It is very nice and is within walking distance of the village.
I have also stayed at the West Side State Park as an overnight campground while traveling from Glacier to Yellowstone.
Apgar is clearly my first choice.

My preference is to take 191 from Bozeman to West Yellowstone then into the park. It is a fairly easy drive yet very scenic.

RE: Would You Buy A Class A Made IN?

Good example was buying the foreign made LG washer/dryer combo-which we bought because the Splendide just did not do the job(wrinkles, smaller load, etc.)
Do they sell Fisher & Paykel washer and dryers in the US?
FYI: Splendide laundry equipment is made in Italy.
Fisher & Paykel Co. is from New Zeland, however many of the North American laundry products are now being made in Clyde, OH. Most of the Whirlpool and Maytag top loading washers sold in North America are also made in Clyde, OH.

RE: Brainerd lakes area CG's?

Last year I stayed at the Mille Lacs State Park which is on the West side of the lake just off MN 169. It is a relatively quiet state park. I was there for the Tour of Lakes Bike ride which started at Garrison, MN. This will be South and East of Brainerd.
In June I have reservations at the Army Corp of Engineers Campground at Cross Lake. I have never been there before, however I have been to the Corp Campground of Gull Lake, which was very nice. This campground will be North and West of Brainerd.

RE: Which new AGM batteries to get

I installed 2 Lifeline 6 volt batteries in my rig today. My old batteries only last 2 years, but the problem was self-inflicted. I had my rig in for service late last fall. When they were done replacing the sky light they parked it outside for the weekend. Temps got down to -20 and there must have been something left on that drained the batteries. The chassis batteries were OK and I actually got it started which amazed me. However the coach batteries were both frozen. I am going to give AGM's a try and see how they do.

RE: Wyoming HWY 14 /14A between I90 and Lovell

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh267/CMATTHEES/BigHornsroute14A.jpg
The West bound climb from Sheridan is not too bad. Moderate grades and a bunch of switch backs. When you get to Burgess junction 14A will spilt off as the Northern route. 14A is closed during the winter and remains closed today. If you take 14A West of Burgess Junction you will climb another 2,000 ft to 9,430 ft before descending almost 6,000 ft to Lovell. This is the section that in addition to switch backs has 10% grades. I have always done this section while East bound so for me it was mostly a slow climb. You will see lots of overheated vehicles while climbing and lots of smoking brakes on the downhill sections. The scenery on 14A is great, but you do need to use caution on those steep grades.

RE: Vietnam from Mazatlan??????WOW

http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh267/CMATTHEES/LargeHanoiHilton.jpg "width=600"
This is the "New" Hanoi Hilton.
I must admit I was very hesitant to take a 2 week long trip to Vietnam. I did not serve in Vietnam, my years in the Navy were spent on the East coast and in the Mediterranean, but Vietnam was very much a part of my youth. My mental image of the country was nothing like what we found. The people were very friendly and very interested in Americans.
We were invited to Vietnam by our foster son who was a Vietnamese refugee. He lives in the US, but has traveled back to his homeland a number of times since the US normalized relations with Vietnam.

RE: My Unofficial Tow Vehicle Survey.

Last year while traveling across Montana on I90 & I94 I did a similar survey. The only criteria I had was the trailer must be tandem axle or bigger. I do not recall the exact numbers, but I do recall that Dodge was the clear winner with Ford and Chevy/GMC being about the same. Seems to me I saw a lot of ranchers pulling horse/stock trailers with Dodge/Cummins rigs.
PS. I drive a Chev DA

RE: Beet Harvesting

The link in the above post is from American Crystal Sugar Company, there headquarters is in my hometown.
Most of the harvest jobs are truck driving. The pre-harvest starts in early Sept, but the main harvest does not start until approx Oct 1. Once the harvesting starts it is done 24hrs/day 7 days a week until the beets are out of the ground. If the temp gets too cold or too hot the harvesting will be suspended, which means no work. Once the beets have been dug they are trucked to the factories and various piling stations. There are also jobs driving semi trucks from the piling stations to the factories. Those jobs last most of the winter.

RE: Vietnam from Mazatlan??????WOW

We spent 2 weeks in Vietnam in January. Beautiful country! We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and spent a few days sightseeing. Then we flew to Hanoi for more sightseeing including an overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay. Then we flew down to Da Nang and spent a couple of days at a seaside resort in Ho An. Back to Saigon then down to the Mekong Delta for a few days then back to a seaside villa near Saigon before heading home. Vietnam is definitely a hidden travel destination, I would highly recommend it.

RE: West Yellowstone to the Tetons

My last trip to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons we took the Idaho route mostly because we had always gone through the park when going from West Yellowstone to the Tetons. I was an interesting drive, but not worth the extra time and miles.

RE: AC freezing

The top 3 reasons for RV air conditioner freeze up.
1. Restricted air flow across the evaporator. This can be caused by a variety of reasons such as dirty filter, block air flow or dirty evaporator. Cleaning the filter and or the evaporator usually solve this problem.
2. Low ambient temperature. If it gets too cold the evaporator can start to ice over. This problem usually can occur when the air conditioner has been left running and the exterior and interior temp both drop.
3. Leak in the sealed system. Roof top air conditioners are not the same as your dash mounted air conditioner. There are no mechanical joints in a roof top unit. All of the connections are welded. If you have a loss of freon it is because you have a leak. That usually means a hole in the tubing or a broken weld. The leak will need to be repaired before the unit can be successfully recharged.
